Today’s kindness through self care tip is to value the importance of baby steps towards your goals. Remember the Chinese proverb “a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” Just take slow and consistent steps every day towards it.
It’s not how big a step you take or how much progress you made, the fact that you even take 1 step will still lead you forward from the previous one. Small steps can make a big difference over time. The first step is always the hardest but once you start, don’t stop as the momentum will keep you going towards progress.
Most often our goals seem so overwhelming, that we feel lost and get paralyzed just by the thought of it, so we procrastinate. Sometimes breaking it down to small bite size pieces makes it more manageable.
At times we’re unsure, so small incremental steps allows us to figure it out as we go, not being in a state of perfection but moving nonetheless. Don’t wait for the perfect circumstances as that is unrealistic and not how life operates. How long will you put off what you can start today even as a first step?
Sometimes, life gets so burdensome, that we need to show grace to ourselves and just do that 1 thing to make it through the day. It can be as simple as having a bath, or eating something healthy, or just getting out of bed.
