You can improve your mental health in many ways such as staying connected with people, being physically active, getting enough sleep, talk to someone you trust or a professional, take up leisure activities, have a relaxation practice and eat healthy food.

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects our thoughts, actions and interactions. It determine how we handle challenges, cope with stress, our relationships and healthy choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood to our adult life.

Research shows that 1 in 5 adults suffers from moderate to acute mental health problems. Good mental health has been shown to be linked to:

-improved learning

-creativity

-higher levels of productivity

-better social relationships

-good physical health e.g. lower cardiovascular issues and less sleeping problems

-increased life expectancy
